HBCU Night: Creative Direction + Activations
To deepen our connection with the local HBCU community, I helped the HSE Marketing team elevate their theme night strategy by crafting a celebration rooted in culture, pride, and representation. In its first year, I conceptualized and executed a staff photoshoot spotlighting employees’ HBCU alma maters and the ways those institutions shaped their journeys.
Expanding the initiative the following season, I coordinated and directed a HBCU Media Day, inviting regional schools to showcase their cheer teams, bands, mascots, and more. We captured content, created game-day features, and even debuted a custom drum major uniform for Hugo on game day (a moment that quickly became a fan favorite.)
The result was an authentic, high-energy celebration that strengthened community ties and amplified the legacy of HBCUs within the Carolinas.
